HOUSE OF CARDS AW15
The latest autumn winter collection from Brisbane born label House of Cards is an ode to our generation, which is characterized by a deep reliance on technology.
Displaying hints of cyberpunk and modernism, the range merges together a sense of desolation together with a feel of nostalgia, humor and quirkiness.
AW15 ‘In Too Deep’ conceptualizes our dependence on the internet, social media and the influence it places on society. Ashiya Omundsen, the designer and founder of HOC, combines her knowledge and skill in pattern making and graphic design to create unique pieces each with a rare edge and flare. Staying true to HOC’ ethos, the AW15 collection invites you to mix prints and colours, enhancing the individuality of the wearer.
The pieces are directional, yet accessible with bold colour, unique prints and exaggerated shapes. Versatility is key this season with reversible dresses that are designed to be layered or detached. Bikini tops are layered over t-shirts, and skivvies under pinafores. Boxy silhouettes don soft pastel shades of pink, purple and blue, and darker greens. Mini skirts and pinafores feature detachable pleating as a point of difference this season.
Eccentric prints have been used throughout the collection, bringing to life the idea of technology’s impact on our lives. Hashtag, web, wifi, mouse-clicking arrow, loading signals and internet explorer globe prints are all print details featured throughout the collection, as well as many more.
‘In Too Deep’ pokes fun at society causing us to question whether we have gone too far. The collection is playful, fun and loud, combining bold and strong shapes with softer fluid pieces to encourage originality and changeability.
