It’s not very often that you find a fashion designer who branches out into other fields within the creative spectrum and conquers them all. Dom Sebastian is a master of graphic design, art and music as well as fashion design. Each artistic practice inspiring Sebastian’s bold and unique designs.
With an overall style that blends high fashion with street wear, Sebastian’s label is full of casual garments, wearable at any occasion. With loosely fitted cotton tees and shorts, the clothing could be worn day to day, as sportswear or worn as a two-piece set for special for a more avant-garde look Sebastian’s artistic inspiration is clearly displayed in the carefully constructed geometric lines and bold colours that are emphasized in the digital prints. Although they digitally created, each piece of clothing is hand made with care by London designer.
Most recently Dom Sebastian released his Jurassic Marble collection, featuring a handful of new pieces. With shirts and pants that share an identical pattern, the look book features the pieces ieither paired with each other as two-piece sets or worn with the Dom Sebastian sweatshirt, a staple for the entire label.
The collection comprises more so of men’s clothing but remains a unisex line, the marble shorts in particular look astonishing on both sexes. Jurassic Marble's colour palette is made up of complements, the pale blues and pinks used alongside whites, blacks and greys are bright and eye-catching. Scattered across the design like paint, they portray a more chaotic side to the collection. The pinks and blues also assist in emphasising the unisex factor as both colours have been engendered for centuries.
The contrast of prints on each piece compliments the other, whist also contrasting it. On one side we have thick black lines against a while canvas that places a very orderly aspect on the collection. The straight lines introduce Sebastian's geometric hallmark, utilised widely in many of his other projects. Opposite the clear lines, the mass of pink and blue chaos splayed across a darker background shows a looser, more comfortable side to the collection.
Dom Sebastian’s Jurassic Marble collection is one of his best and the colours and shapes used will most definitely be remembered one you eye catches it.
