ARCHE REVE
Whilst the phrase “pleats please” is and forever will be infamously associated with Issey Miyake, up and coming label Arche Reve are certainly offering a new perspective and play on pleats. A signature detail within their latest AW 14 collection, Arche Reve has us writing one thing and one thing only on our Christmas wish list, and that’s pleats please.
Based in the fashion capital of Korea, the city of Seoul plays home to the design team behind Arche Reve, yet their aesthetic is by no means dictated by their locale. A distinct worldliness exudes from their clean cut collection, as well as achieving a charming combination of playful sophistication.
With an utterly dreamy colour palette of crisp whites, musty pinks, light wash blue denim, dark navy, almond beige and staple blacks, the pieces are not only beautiful on their own, but pair any number of items from the collection together and the label’s thoughtfulness speaks for itself through the harmony in which they sit together atop the wearer.
What we see within the AW 14 collection is a serious attention to the little things, and for Arche Reve, no thought is spared when it comes to the details. Sequined embellishment far more reminiscent of a night sky than your childhood dance costume, pleated lapels that trace one side of the no longer traditional white buttoned shirt, and refined geometric design prints that are both shiny and sleek in the best possible way.
Pleats, grids, pinstripes, tartan, sequins and print; this collection could easily become overwhelmed with its own materials, yet it’s the intelligent hands behind Arche Reve that combine them to create striking pieces with ease.
