MIRJA PITKAART
When graduates releases astounding final collections, you know that their fantastic work won’t stop after they’ve left their college. Mirja Pitkaart is one such designer whose final collection blends together intricate product design with simple fashion aesthetics.
The London-based designer has only recently graduated her MA Fashion Artifact degree at the London College of Fashion and after gaining a great deal of skills during her course, the designer has created an accessories collection that utilizes her unique talent for leather design.
The final collection consists of eight different pieces that are not only pleasurable to use and look at, but they’re also durable, lasting the long test of time. The collection has already won Pitkaart the Accessories Collection of the Year award from the International Talent Support Competition in Trieste, Italy but the fact that it consists of carefully crafted pieces really shows how far the Estonian-born designer can go.
The collection features two clutches, a sunglass case, a pen, a hair comb, a bracelet and a ring; that are all crafted with their own wood and leather binding.
African blackwood, maple-wood, model board and grey leather were used to create each piece and it is these materials being paired with Pitkaar’'s designs that truly showcase the designers keen eye for aesthetic and original flavor.
