DINA LYNNYK
Not to fan girl out or anything but there are certain extents a "fushun gurl" will go to for a knockout piece of clothing, and Ukrainian designer Dina Lynnyk’s pieces have me contemplating the ends of the earth. It’s not surprising then that after graduating in 2008 from Kiev National University Of Design And Technology she was chosen as a 2011 winner of Harpers Bazaar Fashion Forward and named best young fashion designer.

Lynnyk has just launched her SS14 lookbook and it is exactly on the pulse, but still stands apart in its own right. The key element of the collection is the concept of the curved line. Presented in complicated gradient flows and underlined by the cuts and forms of the pieces, it’s a celebration in asymmetrical wonder. The pieces develop and transform, as the gradient moves and flows across different parts of the garments, each piece connected and interchangeable.

The praise couldn’t possibly stop there though. The collection’s colour palette is crisp and clean, with the additions of the curved lines in neon and pastels, which lift the monochromatic magic to a new level. It also reminds me of the rings of an agate crystal which also puts stars in my eyes.

Lynnyk’s creative genius isn’t limited to creating the forms that make the female body sing, she also creates beautiful and intricate collages. This undoubtably rises from her artistic influences which also give her inspiration for her clothing collections. By meshing images of clothing with other elements she really breaths new life and perspective into her creative approach. Each collage says something different about what is inspiring her at the time, and are so intricately beautiful that each and every time you look at them you notice something different.

There is no need for Lynnyk to limit her creative breadth and it’s refreshing to see an emerging talent go all out and approach numerous projects. The future will surely see her continue to thrive and expand.
