PATH SS14: PRESENCE
Back in 2011, German fashion designer Janine Grosche premiered the debut collection for her label, PATH, sparking a new trend of minimal, yet rebellious menswear utilising wonderfully light fabrics. Now based in Beijing, Grosche has honed her craft and become a designer who continuously surpasses expectations and produces groundbreaking menswear.
PATH has launched a brand new SS’14 collection called ‘Presence’, adding a defiant edge to sophisticated fashion, an emerging trend with mens street wear in recent years. With more and more males becoming familiar with designers and really fashion in general, masculinity has taken on a new form. PATH flourishes in this new environment and ‘Presence’ uses a very innovative mix of light, delicate fabrics with a semi-monochrome colour palate.
Clean cut, tailored shirts seem to highlight the influences for ‘Presence’. A mix of tough youth culture, a series of very erudite music and art as well as traditional menswear create a very unique and well constructed collection. ‘Presence’ seems to blur the lines between avant-garde and wearable fashion, radical originality with nonchalant grace and proves that men can be stylish without losing their manliness.
With the winter months slowly emerging in Australia, men down here would most definitely benefit from the light fabrics that can be layered upon again and again to create an even more textured look for the winter months. The simple colours throughout ‘Presence’ will make layering seem smooth and never over-the-top.
Not Just A Label is currently playing host to ‘Presence’ collection with many staple pieces being available on their online store. As NJAL support “pioneers in contemporary fashion”, it is the perfect platform for PATH’s designs. ‘Presence’ will be an extremely popular collection for the Australian winter months as its light fabrics will suit the scorching days bound to sneak amongst the chill we expect.
