ANDREW B MYERS
“I’m not quite sure where I became so obsessed with washed out colours, sunlit shadows and negative space, but it must have something to do with how much I fetishized warm weather, the beach, and open areas during the summer in the remote area I come from, which I mostly remember as freezing and covered in several feet of snow”.
I am drawn to all of his images, even one that consists purely of yellow curtain blinds and red fingernails (i.e. “Hell Holes” - it’s magnificent). Just look at that colour, colour, colour! Whether it be blue world globes against a pink backdrop, a zesty lemon floating in aqua, or even a (red) Mario and (green) Luigi making out against a lavender screen (which yes, Myers has manufactured), I am mesmerised. You need to check out his work, now!
Whether he’s shooting early 80’s or 90’s paraphernalia, or cats or dogs or ants, you won’t be disappointed in viewing. This Toronto-based photographer is one of the best emerging photographers Canada has thrown at us lately... but see for yourself. You can check out more of his incredible work via his website. I’m in love!
