NICOPANDA
It's no surprise Tokyo native Nicola Formichetti is a fan of subculture, having injected clear punk notions and aestehtics into her latest collection for popular brand Nicopanda. From the name alone, the essence of Nicopanda can be hard to define.
The collection is the first unisex RTW collection Formichetti has designed and although metalwork- commonly identified with the punk movement- has been used, the ruffles and pastel blues and pinks will be enough to surprise you.
Blending fashion subcultures can sometimes be a very risky move, however Formichetti has successfully blended punk fabrics with Harajuku coloring to bring a whole new subculture to life.
Pearls grace a handful of the accessories and mesh embellishes the simple neutral sweaters. Opposing colours work together for clean, minimalist aesthetics and ruffles ardon the most simple tee’s, embellishing the ordinary and breathing a breath of femininity into a collection that will no doubt break barriers.
Nicola Formachetti believes that his Nicopanda collection will catch the eye of people who are open and willing to try anything. It is for people who are brave enough to show their unique style out on the streets, showing their strong personalities and wearing their hearts on their sleeves.
