EXCLUSIVE: ODD PEARS x PHEBE SCHMIDT
pear
pɛː/ noun
1. a delicious, bottom-heavy fruit. (not our Pear)
2. a grouping of three socks; two that match and one that is slightly (inversely) odd. (our
Pear)
Odd Pears isn’t just any old sock company. They spend their days figuring out new ways to stick it to
the man and celebrate life, colour, creativity and design, all through the invention of their 'Pear'.
"You see, it’s not just that we shun social norms and encourage self-expression, we also care about
making the world a better place."
Odd Pears recently teamed up with Melbourne-based photography extraordiniare Phebe Schmidt, to shoot their newest range.
Continuing Schmidt’s theme of a stylised plasticity the collaboration features plastic mannequin parts and various props. The images draw the viewer in with the bright socks and curious props, but on second glance they realize that something is not quite right – floating razors, massagers, legs and cheese graters – drawing attention to the perfection of the socks and the imperfection of the accompanying subject.
