If you’re into space and art then this short series by German design studio, FOREAL, will be right up your alley. Come to think of it, even if you’re not it’s hard not to be completely astounded by these images. At first glance they appear to be 3D models but they are in fact illustrations, surreal representations of the inner working of some of the planets in our solar system.

Dancing the fine line between art and science, the studio claims the works are “disclosing secrets inside of our planets, revealing a strange and visionary world.”

Though visually stunning, the true beauty of the series lies in the relative, albeit abstract, accuracy of the images. Educators take note; teaching kids about space with these kind of images will be prove vastly more effective than the typical info-graphics. The series is world’s apart (get it?) to the work the studio typically produces but here’s to hoping they have more in store where this came from.
