New York City photographer Ben Taylor's work has a Juergen Teller-esque spontaneity to it, like he’s caught the models mid pose.

Having shot for magazines like Vice and Oyster on the reg, it’s easy to see why his casual and brightly lit film and digital work is a refreshing change to meticulously planned traditional fashion shoots.

Taylor’s work is flirty and fun, and conveys an air of childlike innocence and imagination. He shoots teens running away from large plastic dinosaurs in Jurassic Parka, and multiple sets of enviably cool twins in Twinning is Winning. They seem like the sort of photoshoots you wish you’d been along to witness, just to find out how much fun happened behind the scenes. The clothes the models have been assigned to wear in his shoots never seem stiff or rigid, they become a part of the character the model is playing, an extension of Taylor’s ease behind the camera.

With a somewhat nostalgic aesthetic, Taylor's work reminds us of early 2000’s catalogues, and the cool kids you’d want to smoke cigarettes with in central park.
