Oh. My. God. KENZO.
Okay, first let me preface this by explaining my love/hate relationship with fashion video campaigns. To put it simply: sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t. The current designer video short trend has surpassed look books, which are still full bloom mind you and equally as amazing when done right, see Verner SS/13. Prada has perfected the medium, specifically their short film “A Therapy” by Roman Polanski, starring Ben Kingsley and Helena Bonham Carter (amazing), and their SS/11 and FW/12 campaigns. Video shorts/campaigns need to be creative, clear and concise, and most importantly unique.
Which brings me to KENZO's Mens FW/2012 collection. Meiré Und Meiré and CATK have collaborated with KENZO on this sleek and stylish campaign, presenting an incredible video which precedes their womenswear promo, which is equally as incredible. This is how a video campaign she look!
The futuristically retro (I know that doesn’t exactly make sense) reminds me of a Robyn music video clip mixed with subtle 80's nostalgic (and psychedelic) print, design and imagery. Does that even make sense? It doesn't even have to, just watch the video and fawn over its superbness.
Everything you see is available at KENZO's online store and select retailers. Congratulations KENZO, I think this may be my favourite (non Polanski) fashion video campaign this year.
