MARION BERRIN x BIN ZHU
Photographer Marion Berrin has photographed the new SS15 look book for Bin Zhu, a Chinese fashion student who has just finished her fashion degree at the ESMOD school in Paris, and the result is wonderfully clean.
Using biological cotton made in Mali and Sengal, Zhu created her graduating line around the theme of windows. The overly organic materials used in the look book give Zhu an identity in the fashion world, one that would usually take years to put together, and Berrin has shot it in such a way that the line looks both elegant and casual.
Both the photographer and designer met and instantly realized that they shared the same ideas about aesthetics and the way the line should be shot. The collaboration seems to have made a wonderful impact and is already making hearts melt.
Both Berrin and Zhu decided to shoot the look book on a film camera using broad daylight as the lighting source. This again adds to the organic feel of the shoot and by the looks of things, the organic way in which both creatives prefer to work.
The saturated images depict a very natural lifestyle and way of wearing Zhu’s collection and the relaxed nature of it all is probably the most intriguing part. Many look books are shot in photography studios with digital cameras and harsh lighting, however this new look book shows fashion in a way that is not seen much by the world and it shows that fashion can be traditionally beautiful as well as highly professional.
