ERICA BECH
Erica Bech is a woman of many multi-coloured talents. Delving into various fields of creativity, it’s hard to find an art form she’s not good at.
Bech’s world is colourful and clever- sassy phrases like “what ever” and “I hate school” adorn canvas bags, and pastel colours are splashed on everything from Mac computers to mannequin heads.
Bech’s brand work for Nasty Gal seems reminiscent of 80's California, with beach babes are complimented by her signature dashes of colour. As a previous designer for Nasty Gal it’s not surprising that Bech can so intuitively work to the aesthetic.
Her ‘Object’ series features the same colour palate as her design work, except this time they take on 3D properties. Stationary is painted a matte red, Mac computers have pastel screensavers and a boy wears the same pastel creations head to toe. It’s as if the whole world has been coloured by her creativity and brightness.
Perhaps the most resounding element of Bech’s work is that she can take an ordinary paragraph of text and make it exciting, adding her own personal touch of colour and ingenuity.
