ERIC YEVAK
Eric Yevak seeks to create moments of collision: where two forces come together and collide, creating a sense of harmony and finality.
Yevak is a visual artist from New York- the raw essence and creativity of the city seems to seep into his work, to power it. Using a variety of tools to create his soothing pastel tones, and whirlwind splashes of dark, brooding colours, his work has a sense of leading you into something bigger, of giving you the beginning of a long story.
When considering his background in martial arts, the cohesion in his work becomes clearer. As in martial arts; one sequence links to another, leading and flowing, becoming intertwined. Eric Yevak’s work is minimal, at times it seems the clouds of soft pink are masking something else, something hidden, and the thick black lines are denoting a mysterious meaning. The paint bubbles and thickens on the canvas, and the intentions of the artist are interwoven with the sheer beauty of the shapes and colours.
Yevak’s work has it’s own internal rhythm and logic. He strives to create a moment of genuine perfection and lightness, to capture the forming of creation and atmosphere.
