CAOIMHE MAC NEICE
Many designers have searched for a more futuristic look when creating their collections and Dublin-based designer Caoimhe Mac Neice is no different. Moreover, she seems to have not only referenced futurism in her debut collection, but also architecture.
Caoimhe Mac Neice graduated from the National College of Art And Design and come out with a collection that is both innovative and mysterious. The collection is called Degree and the simple look book has been created to emphasise the intricate features of each piece of clothing.
Mac Neice says in the introduction of the look book that the collection was created by “exploring misleading online persona” where the “person is reduced to pixels”. Each piece conveys that exploration by being reduced to geometric shapes in order to show the person’s life in pixels.
Each garment has small features that seem to reference futuristic elements, whether Mac Neice intended them to or not. Each piece seems to almost hover on the models body, as each strap is created thin and transparent. Each clip and latch, helping to cling the layered pieces together, are hidden beneath each layer and it seems like architecture plays a part merely by the clothing looking like a roof over the models body.
Many elements come together to create Caoimhe Mac Neices’ Degree collection and through the elements working together comes the debut of a designer destined to create ground-breaking clothing.
