INTRODUCING: SUKU
Beginning with the philosophy that the home environment is an extension of the self – a kinetic symbiosis, a progressive motion from tangible to intangible existence – SUKU designer Christine Lafian compiled her design skills to the beat of Suicide’s Dream Baby Dream, a creative token she has carried into the label’s debut collection. Having grown up in Indonesia, Lafian injects traditional cultural and aesthetic qualities into table runners, cushions, and bed linen. Produced on the grounds of environmental sustainability, bamboo is employed as a base material, transforming the natural, pesticide-free source into hypoallergenic rayon products. With a consciousness for creative sustainability and connection to the wider environments of traditional culture-driven practices, Lafian has hit the lusciously soft, functional, morally sound, aesthetically beautiful nail on the head.
