One of the latest young artists roaming free and graduated around New York City, Kayla Kern is a breath of fresh air in the occasionally stagnant design industry.
With an eye for colours it seems no one else can see, Kayla reinvigorates the format of the poster, getting back to what events were about before Facebook. With a perspective that reminds you that things in the world are still young and fun, she makes you want to go out dancing, with a sketchbook and a colourful dress.
Kern is only just starting her career, which is the most exciting bit, as she has already worked with Nylon Magazine and the famous Mike Perry studio. And as we all know, a blessing from Mike Perry is like a blessing from the heavens: creative gold dust.
Her pastel line drawn nudes are particularly endearing- she injects a hint of playful fun into all her work, keeping it cute, but simultaneously impressive. She knows her stuff, but she’s not afraid to play around with it.
Kern is definitely worth keeping an eye on, because you never know where this girl will turn up, spreading colour and good vibes.
