JACOBO LABELLA
The Berlin-based artist delicately transcripts fashion editorials and advertisements by hand to paper. Prada, A.P.C and designer eyewear Oliver Peoples (which features our favorite hobbit Elijah Wood) are few luxury labels that’ve been snatched from the public and returned to the private; the relationship established between hand and pencil is very intimate and delicate process.
“I've always liked drawing portraits. I began drawing people who appeared in magazines, people I found interesting or beautiful, more classic portraits... I like my drawings to be clean and strong, with realistic techniques.”
Labella finds inspiration in most creative portals like movies, music, fashion and photography, and like many contemporary designers, artists and directors, he blurs the boundaries between all. The very talented illustrator enjoys penning the likes of the famous and the imaginary; check out his “Wild Gardens” series for the best beard-garden hybrid I’ve ever seen, in fact, the only beard-garden hybrid I’ve ever seen!
