WE ARE LOOT
We are Loot, or just simply, ‘Loot’ are self confessed “upholders of good graphic design.”
Situated in the (architecturally amazing) Bucharest, this mysterious team of ever-evolving graphic designers evade definition. Their manifesto “We Know That We Don’t Know” is an open one, available to be changed an updated on a philosophical whim. Their manifesto provides a holistic approach to life and art, never glorifying human existence and ideals, but stating “Design is a tool, a way of thinking, a way of doing but nothing that’s really important.” They warn of the dangers of assuming knowledge and trying to revive ancient histories and lessons from the past (“is it worth the time?”).
Their projects are numerous, ranging from a neat classified menu for Origo Coffee Shop, to thick chromosomal letters, twisting together for the Type Collective. Minimal and refreshing, Loot’s designs always hold some semblance of the international and the interconnected. They combine mixed media in the presentation of their designs, using photographs of the actual physical finished product, gifs and prototype drawings to convey their work.
Loot is one of those rare studios that want to show you the whole process, they want to make you understand what they’re about, and when you do, you realize just how special they are.
