SIMON DEGROOT
Anyone who incorporates Spongebob Squarepants into their arts practice instantly gains my admiration. Simon Degroot, I salute you.
The QCA Honors student is a master of canvas. His oil paintings and screen prints - Sesame Streets own Big Bird included (thank you sir) - are colorful, bold and a little hypnotic. He alternates between painterly floral graffiti and pixelated graphics redolent of your internet crashing and/or loading (dependent of your connection speed).

Degroot incorporates his formal training in commercial printing, using four-colour image separation and screen-printing reproduction, permitting him to reproduce photographic imagery.
