GARTH COOK SS 14/15
This lookbook had us at Birks and socks.
The latest offering from Aussie designer Garth Cook is a tutorial in how to layer like a pro. The SS 14/15 lookbook is aptly titled 'Dress Un Dress', proving that mixing, matching, and looking a little bit dishevelled is oh so chic. Not to mention wearing clothes in alternate ways to their intended purpose is also good fashion game.
With simplistic lines, and a clean colour palette, the whole collection reads like an interchangeable wardrobe. Feathered and sequinned textures enhancing the tactility of the somewhat 'basic' shapes.
Don't be mistaken, basic with quirky elements is the intended outcome, it's all 'normcore', done well. To perfection even.
Sheer fabrics, sensual slits, boxy shapes, and subtle ruffles all add a playful edge to this minimal exercise in dressing.
Fashion is supposed to be fun, and Cook has successfully embedded this playful element whilst still staying bang on trend.
Now where did we put our stark white socks...
