EXCLUSIVE: NYLONS SS 15


Our very own Jamie-Maree Shipton teamed up the Nylons and Melbourne photographer Heather Lighton for one killer SS15 lookbook.

This season, Nylons took inspiration from the organic properties of water and its ability to transform and reflect its surroundings. The designers duo behind Nylons, Irene Papas and Bianca Censori, were drawn to its depths, ability to transform and fluid nature. Intrigued by water’s ability to reflect surrounding colours and objects whilst also warping their initial appearance, the girls began to experiment with this, injecting ink into water and watching the colours transform into softer shades. With the colour palette derived from the illusions created when light reflects upon water.

The SS15 collection encapsulates painterly watercolour inspired shades of purple, orange and yellow mixed with shimmers of silver. The organic and cyclical nature of water as it transforms into different properties also led Censori and Papas to introducing new shapes into their SS15 collection. Hoop earrings and rope designs have joined the classic chokers and bracelets this season, with the shapes emulating water’s fluidity. Matte and opaque finished crystals have been contrasted against both transparent and reflective chatons, re-enacting water’s transforming properties.
