In the space of a season he had captured audiences with his dedication to considered and respected textile and cut quality, and we’ve been won over in the process. So we weren’t surprised when Tai’s AW 13 collection displayed the same intrinsic aesthetic qualities as his SS debut.

Tagged the nerd of the industry, Tai’s expression of the modern woman in a quirkily relaxed yet thoughtfully measured style has seen him carry a cult following. A nod to the sci-fi geek of Franco Brambilla’s postcard series, Tai’s reflection of the power ideal existing in the chaotic and fantastically imaginative world is played upon through palettes of electrified vibrancy and oversized silhouettes with a spirited attitude all their own. Reimagined textiles set amongst playful takes on the sweater, shirt, maxi and the odd angular jacket reflect the casual inelegance of the Steven Tai woman. We want to be like her.
