The smooth, refined craftsmanship defines the aesthetic of Paris based label Atelier Alisa Besirevic. Animal hide, shearling and fur are skilfully amalgamated to emphasis and normalise unconventional materials in an everyday context.

The intelligent, and eloquent Besirevic likes doing things her way, explaining; “I always need to add something to my designs which doesn't match at all, just because I don't like to make a woman look too dressed up and thought through ... I absolutely refuse to design for a particular kind of person, I just want people to feel moved when they discover my world.”

The philosophy behind the beautiful craft of Besirevic is based around the notion of individuality, and self-expression for those who feel the need to stray from the crowd. After years of job interview rejections, and advice to conventionalise her product Besirevic began her own atelier.

And just like she did, Besirevic wants you to find your own voice. Even if it only begins as a whisper, let her creations help you find the strength to yell.

“Sometimes one tries to force his destiny, but if you don't listen to the universe, the universe will get back at you.”

On her ambitions for the future she comments, “I would like that one day people will visit my art exhibition in some tiny gallery in the backyard of some insignificant building, that people could sit on chairs I designed, serve coffee in pottery I made and maybe even dance on music I composed.”
