TEKLA EVELINA SEVERIN
Tekla Evalina Severin is an aesthete who strives for perfection one photo at a time. The colourful architecture and nature shots that compromise the immensely popular Instagram of this artist keep your eyes glued to the screen, and that thumb continually scrolling.
The Stockholm based artist currently works as an interior architect, but explores all mediums of self expression through photography, artist direction, furniture and fashion design. Though clearly a hard worker Severin maintains a “playful sense of abstraction and colour” to keep her work light. She knows not to take art too seriously, but with 24,000 followers on Instagram she certainly isn’t an amateur.
She comments, “I’ve always searched for that perfect aesthetic moment when things fall into place. Sometimes I find that in everyday life randomness. Sometimes, it’s an idea in my head; something I have to realize. I think its all about my need to create my own world, I’ve always had that need. No matter what the media is I guess its all about trying to grasp something, to make my own interpretation, to be able to get some kind of understanding of the world as whole.”
The honesty of Severin’s words are what make this artist so relatable, and to me, endearing. I think at times we all wish we could hide away and create our own world, the next best thing is getting lost in a new world like the one created by Tekla Evelina Severin.
