What do fabulous gays, the Playboy mansion, my aunty’s collection of lawn ornaments/collectable grass junk, and Brisbane label House of Cards have in common? Why the answer is pink flamingos, of course!
Introducing House of Cards Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, designed by director Ashiya Omundsen. The independent label has just released it’s lookbook to the public, but have offered this selection of animated gifs exclusively to us here at PITCH!
The collection is so sweetly titled “Lagoon Lovers”, which could perhaps be a throwback to the blossoming romance between Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins (minus the nudity and creepy cousin storyline) in The Blue Lagoon (1980)... I kid. Although, like their childlike island love story, this collection flaunts an oceanic palette of pastel two toned sea blues and kaledoscopic mints alongside sandy yellows. With pieces like ‘Plastic Lawn Pinafore Crop’, ‘Crustacean Open Jacket’ and ‘Swamp Monster Dress’, you’re bound to feel your most youthful and mythical self! Being a fabulous gay myself, I do favour the ‘Don Featherston’ fleece dress with flamingo screenprint dancing along the hem.
