EMILY HADDEN
From the brick and chimney lanes of London to the bright lights and buzzing streets of Hollywood, California travels Emily Hadden - the art director, designer and image maker responsible for some of the work you know and love by the creators and designers you adore, aka Stella McCartney and Nasty Gal. Although based in England’s capital, Hadden is currently working as the senior designer for a fashion company/label/designer (we don’t know who or what exactly, yet!) in Los Angeles. It’s all very mysterious, very secret, very hush-hush, very Wisteria Lane. All I know is that it’s bound to be brilliant!
The multidisciplinary artist specializes in visual graphics, illustration and photography. She explores shapes, form, colour and contrast (beautifully might I add) through selected abstract arts such as posters, prints, fabrics and digital imagery. She’s inspired by the nature of texture and colour and the appeal in accident artistry. Whether she be fiddling in fashion, managing multi-media or printin’ up pages for publications like Liberty London and b Store, this British lady - or is that dame? - is doing well for herself. This is the one to watch!
“At the moment my weekdays consist of a busy full-time job at Stella McCartney. If I haven't got any freelance work, I go for drinks and dinner with friends, chill at my lovely flat or go to an exhibition. 'First Thursdays' are my favourite night of the month because all the galleries in East London stay open late to launch their new exhibitions. Creative are out looking at art and drinking free warm beer; it's nights like these when you realise how many creatives live in this city.” - interview with Drop Magazine.
The above quote makes me want to back my bags and move to our mother country immediately! You should definitely check out more of Emily’s incredible work via her website and blog. I bow to thee, and you should too.
